Pakharenko and Partners IP and Law Firm will be a general legal partner of the Second All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Successful viniculture – 2017” to be held on 24-25th of February 2017 in Odesa.
Unlike the last year’s meeting of viniculturists and winemakers, that was also held in Odesa and was rather introductory and instructive, the main purpose of this year’s conference is to find the ways of effective development of the sector in accordance with the requirements and standards of global economy and placing the focus of Ukrainian viniculture on European and global markets. During the event, the owners and managers of vineyards and wineries, chief agriculturists and manufacturing viniculturists, as well as the members of the Government and the Parliament, representatives of diplomatic institutions, banks, investment funds and importing and exporting companies, trade and restaurants chains will discuss restoration of vineyards in Ukraine and technological upgrade of these industries. Additional topic for discussion will be marketing strategy for winning the loyalty of domestic consumers and entering international markets.
Traditionally, the conference agenda includes a round table dedicated to intellectual property issues, which will be held by the representatives of the general legal partner Pakharenko and Partners IP and Law Firm. The round table “Wines of Ukraine: birth of brand” will be moderated by Veronika Berezanska, the Head of the Commission on Intellectual Property and Unfair Competition of the ICC Ukraine, public projects coordinator at Pakharenko and Partners. Creation and development of a wine brand is impossible without legal protection measures provided to business by special legislation on intellectual property. Today no company can run its business activity without using trademarks, inventions, utility models, industrial designs, geographical indications, works protected by copyright, know-how and other intellectual property objects.
During the round table discussions, participants will get insights on how to create an innovative wine brand enjoying IPR protection benefits and how to use these possibilities to preserve and increase economic and creative investments of winemakers. In particular, the following topics will be discussed:
— perspectives of application of IPR protection and enforcement mechanisms within the frames of legal protection of business at the stage of creation of a wine brand;
— peculiarities of obtaining legal protection for the elements of a wine brand when entering the European market;
— trademarks and geographical indications as wine brand promotion tools;
— possible options of protection of rights to a wine brand using intellectual property legislation.
Everyone attending the conference will have an opportunity to view the mobile exhibition of counterfeit and pirated products of the Ukraine Alliance Against Counterfeiting and Piracy which will be demonstrated in the framework of the social event titled “I Buy Real! I Don’t Buy Fakes!” being a part of the awareness-raising campaign “Anti-Counterfeiting and Anti-Piracy Days in Ukraine”. The most curious participants of the conference will be able to test their consumer skills and try to detect the counterfeit features of goods, while all interested attendees will answer survey questions regarding counterfeits consumption and receive souvenirs.
